We living in
a fallen world, surrounded by fallen people, and fight our fallen nature. No wonder it is often easy to follow the
crowd even when we are walking a path we know it is not good for us. The
culture tells us it is good to indulge in anything and everything we want. However,
as Christians we are called to live differently. Living differently can bring ridicule from
people around us. It will likely bring criticism. Being different is uncomfortable and challenging.
Brothers and
sisters, as Christians, our citizenship is in heaven! The Apostle Peter says this way, “Beloved, I
urge you as sojourners and exiles to abstain from the passions of the flesh,
which wage war against your soul. Keep your conduct among the Gentiles
honorable, so that when they speak against you as evildoers, they may see your
good deeds and glorify God on the day of visitation.” (1 Peter 2:11-12).
So, as
“temporary residents and foreigners” in this world, let each of live as
such. Let us stand up and follow
Christ! Let us know is Word and live out
its truth in our lives. Let our lives
make an impact on the lives of our friends, our family members, our community,
and our world!
