“Then I saw in the right hand
of him who was seated on the throne a scroll written within and on the back,
sealed with seven seals. And I saw a mighty angel proclaiming with a loud
voice, “Who is worthy to open the scroll and break its seals?” And no one in
heaven or on earth or under the earth was able to open the scroll or to look
into it, and I began to weep loudly because no one was found worthy to open the
scroll or to look into it. And one of the elders said to me, “Weep no more;
behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has conquered, so
that he can open the scroll and its seven seals.””
Revelation
5:1-5
Once upon a time in America, it was
believe by all that a Christian morality would always be the driving force in
the United States of America. It was
believed that this nation would be the bastion of Christian which would be a guide
that would lead all to a knowledge of Christ.
As one looks at the world, confidence in
this concept is waning. The reality of
the culture and the advancement of political-correctness has caused the faithful
to loose heart. It seems as if the
church as hunkered down and is geared up to ride out the storm.
Then… there is God! Though the church appears defeated God is
not. Even though secular thought seems
to have consumed the society and infatuated every aspect of life, God is still sovereign. Even as Christians at times feel defeated and
insignificant, each Christ-follower is devoted to the only One who is worthy. Revelation declares, “And no one in heaven or
on earth or under the earth was able to open the scroll or to look into it, and
I began to weep loudly because no one was found worthy to open the scroll or to
look into it. And one of the elders said to me, “Weep no more; behold, the Lion
of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has conquered, so that he can open
the scroll and its seven seals.”
Oh, my brothers and sisters, let each of
us live in the victory which we have in Christ.
Let us not be overwhelmed and live as those conquered. Let us stand strong as warriors and declare
with our lives the victory of Christ.
