“Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all
circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you… He who calls you is faithful; he will surely
do it.”
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18, 24
As I sit and contemplate how the Lord is moving among
the young to which He has given me charge... I am keenly aware of the world into which we will
launch them. I understand that it is
full of immorality and corruption. If
you are like me, you often wonder how the young are going to manage to live in
a world that seems to be growing darker and darker by the day. My brothers and
sisters, I want to say that we must not despair, instead we ought to
rejoice.
You may wonder, how can we express joy when sin is
so rampant. You may contemplate and ask
how we can celebrate when our church and baptismal numbers in America are in
decline. You may feel the weight of sin
and the hopelessness of living in a fallen world. However, my fellow Christians, take heart for
we follow one who is faithful.
Take
comfort in the realization that the one who will walk with the young as they
wade through the filth of this fallen world is trustworthy. My friends, passionately
express your joy daily for our God is worthy of praise and adoration. Let your life and words communicate the delight
you take in your Savior and encouragement you find in Him.
