After chatting with a friend, I am again find myself thankful for the hope I find in Christ. There is an old hymn that states, "My hope is built on nothing less than Jesus Christ, my righteousness; I dare not trust the sweetest frame, but wholly lean on Jesus’ name." To often in this world people reach out to find other things... looking for hope, love, satisfaction, peace in another person arms, in a glass of distilled liquid, in mind-altering substance. It is only when we come to the end of ourselves that we can truly find Jesus. The psalmist stated, "Out of the depths I cry to you, LORD; Lord,
hear my voice. Let your ears be attentive to my cry for mercy. If you,
LORD, kept a record of sins, Lord, who could stand? But with you there
is forgiveness, so that we can, with reverence, serve you. I wait for
the LORD, my whole being waits, and in his word I put my hope. I wait
for the Lord more than watchmen wait for the morning, more than watchmen
wait for the morning. Israel put your hope in the LORD, for with the
LORD is unfailing love and with him is full redemption. He himself will
redeem Israel from all their sins. (Psalm 130)"
LORD, TODAY LET EACH OF US COME TO THE END OF OURSELVES AND REJOICE IN JESUS NAME AND THE HOPE FOUND ONLY WHEN WE CRY OUT TO HIM!
